Stewardship and Resources

“Giving thanks, Giving Back, Giving Hope”

Stewardship and Resources

Like any organisation we have bills to pay and ends to meet. Including our contribution to the Diocese and maintenance of our building and grounds, we currently need to find £850 a month to break even. Sadly, at present our hall is not accessible for use and the finances it generates do not assist in meeting the needs of the building. We rely on the giving from our church members.

We ask church members to think carefully about their giving, and then make giving plans and pledges for the year to come. Part of planning pledges to give to the church means that each one of us should be intentional in our giving.

Giving is biblical. In the Old Testament, the Jewish people were asked to give a specific percentage – the tithe or 10%. The Church of England asks for 5%. We encourage people to use direct debit or our envelope scheme. That way we set aside the amount we intend to give to the Lord, week by week, and give it regularly, following an established plan.

Corinthians 9:7 says, each person should give what they have decided in their hearts to give…”.

Building hire

To supplement our income from the congregation, the main church is sometimes available for hire for groups, classes, meetings and community events. The church is not available for hire on Sundays. If this interests you please take a look at our Hire page, or contact the Parish office (office@stjohnsangelltown.church / 0207 733 0585) for further information and hire rates.

“And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching.” Hebrews 10:24-25
