Clergy

Vicar

The Revered Robert Faulkner is the Vicar of Angell Town.

Fr Robert was ordained Deacon in the Diocese of Southwark in 2017, and Priest in 2018. He served his curacy at Christ Church and St John’s, Clapham, and joined Angell Town as Priest in Charge in 2021. He was made Vicar later that year.

The Vicar is responsible for the life, ministry, and worship of the parish, and the spiritual and pastoral care of the whole parish community, both those who come to St John’s regularly and those who don’t.

Assistant Curate

The Reverend Dan Grayson is the Assistant Curate of Angell Town.

Fr Dan was ordained Deacon in the Diocese of Southwark in 2024. He is serving his curacy at Angell Town.

St John’s is fortunate to be assisted by two retired clergy with Permission to Officiate: Fr Ivelaw Bowman, and Rev. Funke Ogbede.

Churchwardens

The Churchwardens are elected every year by the parish. Their role is to assist the Vicar with the running of the church, and also to be the Bishop’s representatives in the parish. The Churchwardens are responsible for the church building and churchyard, as well as its contents, and have a role in making sure worship in the parish runs smoothly.

Prince Kamanda

Prince has been churchwarden since 2024.

Cynthia Kombe-Kajue

Cynthia has been churchwarden since 2023.

Safeguarding Officer

The Parish Safeguarding Officer is the key link between the diocese and the parish, concerning safeguarding matters. They have an overview of all activities involving children, young people, and vulnerable adults, to ensure that all safeguarding requirements are met. They ensure that relevant church members have completed DBS checks, and have up-to-date safeguarding training. They are responsible for implementing the parish safeguarding poilicy.

Parochial Church Council (PCC)

The Parochial Church Council (PCC) is an elected body of clergy and lay people who are responsible for the vision and mission of the parish, and all financial, legal, and administrative matters. A portion of the PCC is elected by the congregation every year, including representatives from the parish to Deanery Synod.

Lay Volunteers

Lay people have a vital ministry in sharing the Gospel in their community and in assisting the Clergy and PCC in advancing the mission and ministry in the parish. St John’s has several lay volunteers who have a variety of roles in the congregation.

Commissioned Pastoral Minister: Hannah Abiri
CPMs (formerly Southwark Pastoral Auxiliaries) are lay people commissioned by the Bishop to help develop caring and pastoral work on behalf of the church, in a voluntary capacity.
