Safeguarding
Our Parish is committed to safeguarding children, young people and adults from harm. We follow the House of Bishops guidance and policies and have our own Parish Safeguarding Officer (PSO). Our Diocese’s safeguarding pages contain vital links and information including contacts for the Diocesan Safeguarding Advisor who advises our PSO. If you are concerned that a child or adult has been harmed or may be at risk of harm please contact the PSO or the Diocesan Safeguarding Advisor. If you have immediate concerns about the safety of someone, please contact the police and your local authority’s children or adult social care services.
Sunday School
From time to time, we invite our primary and younger secondary school children to explore the Bible and their faith during the Sunday morning service. This takes place in our church hall, with the children leaving the service towards the beginning, and returning before Holy Communion. It is led by the Vicar and Curate, and other trained leaders. All those who work with children and young people are subject to our Safeguarding policies, including DBS checks.
Sunday School is advertised ahead of time, but as yet there is no set pattern. For more information please contact the Parish Office on (office@stjohnsangelltown.church/0207 733 0585).
Serving at the Eucharist
We are blessed with a number of children and young people who are able to be Altar Servers at our Parish Eucharists. This is a much appreciated and valued ministry in our church, and we welcome all our children and young people in playing a part in our worship. We offer quarterly training for new Altar Servers, who are then added to our server rotas.
Being an Altar Server is a wonderful way to engage with our worship, and we would be delighted to welcome more children and young people to the team. For more information please contact the Parish Office on (office@stjohnsangelltown.church/0207 733 0585).
Events for children and young people
We hold special events throughout the year for children and young people, including our Christmas party. Please keep an eye on our upcoming events for more information.
Junior Churchwardens
Each year we appoint two of our older young people to be our junior churchwardens. They assist in preparing for our worship and in reading and leading prayers.
Our junior Churchwardens for 2024 are Dupe Adeniran and Teniola Ibrahim.
